How often have you spent hours, days, and weeks on a jigsaw puzzle? You were so excited to have the end in sight and you were planning how you would preserve your masterpiece ? only to get to those last few pieces to discover the last crucial piece is missing!

Aaagh! Not again!

You can’t do anything with an incomplete jigsaw puzzle. Even with just one piece missing it?s ruined and no use to anyone, is it?

Think again. It’s of great use to a frugal scrapbooker ?

For those of us stuck with short days and little sunlight, the clouds around our ankles and snow up to our necks, or swimming in the rain and blown along by the storms …

From where I’m sitting these are only slight exaggeration … so, I’m sorry, little sympathy for those of you who have hot sunny weather! Me jealous? Never … well a little … did it really show? Bears and birds have it right: winter’s for hibernating or flying south! And just think what all that fasting or exercise would do for the waist girls! … and the hips … and … no I’ll not go on, you get the point, I’m sure.

We want our scrapbooks to last forever. However, none of us is going to live forever no matter how much we may want it; and neither will they.

While it?s great to imagine our great-great-great-great-great grandchildren looking through our scrapbook and thinking how wonderful things were in our day, how handsome great-great-great-great-great Uncle Dave was, and what exciting, pioneering lives we lived (!) let?s not kid ourselves it will happen! If you doubt my theory, just think how tastes vary and how often we throw out something we didn?t think we liked only to wish a few short years later that we hadn?t thrown it out! Unless we lock our scrapbooks in a vault somewhere – dry and airtight, of course! – and throw away the key, our descendants are unlikely to have one of them in a hundred years time, never mind ALL the scrapbooks we make! Styles change; things get lost. We?re a fickle people. That?s life.
