I like this scrapbooking paper which is the Animal Stackers Collection: Building Blocks from Three Bugs in a Rug and available at Scrapbook.com. Click on the image for the full product details.
Aside from the fact it is my favorite color, I immediately saw this paper could be used as card focals for children’s cards, gift tags and bookmarks, as well as the obvious use on a scrapbooking layout.
We have more ideas to use this paper plus a card idea inspired by it.
Here are a few scrapbooking suggestions for this paper:
- use one column or row as a border on your scrapbook page, or
- on a double page spread you could use a column down each side, or
- a column down one page and a row across the other, or
- use a square paper punch to punch out individual animals for accents on your layout, or
- use your subject’s favorite animal as accents
Card Idea based on this paper:
The rabbit is by Erica Hite.
- for a 4 inch square card, cut cardstock to 8 in x 4 in, score at 4 in, fold in half to finished size
- make 4 equal triangles from a 3 inch square of cardstock by cutting on the diagonals, or
- take two toning/contrasting papers, each 3 in square, and cut each into 4 triangles (use 2 of each and place opposite each other on the card)
- punch one character from the paper with a square punch, place on a colored card, adhere to a second colored card, each a little larger – about 1/4 inch larger than the one before
More Ideas
One punched square on its own on a plain background as above is a simple focal – raise it on foam tape to add interest. You could also place it on a patterned paper background to vary the look. Alternately use 3 or 4 punched characters on a larger card.
Mount the card in a frame and you have the start of a series of pictures for a child’s bedroom wall.
