Staring at shelves and shelves of page can be overwhelming. Scrapbooking kits are so popular for they take the pain out of the task of matching papers. But they can present another headache … what to do with all the papers left over. See our related posts for more on scrapbooking kits.
To recap on the tips:
- choose monochromatic shades, that is different shades of one color (pull one of the colors from your photo and build on it)
- use several sheets from one range from one manufacturer; for example fill your page with the patterns but then make your photo pop out by matting on a solid color
- mix several sheets from similar ranges from two manufacturers
- snippets from a coordinating pack make for easy matching
- use one bold pattern and one not so bold (subtle) pattern on a solid neutral or lightly distressed base
- colors complement each other
- some colors are carried through the papers
When working out how much of each paper to use, think of the gallon, quart, pint color/pattern theory: use a gallon of your main, a quart of your secondary and a pint of accent.
So you no longer need fear matching patterned papers. Thanks to the practical tips in this video tutorial you can succeed when you search through your stash or go to the store for more scrapbooking paper.
