I thought I’d show a page from my scrapbook calendar for 2011.
My calendars are small and simple this year because I ran out of time. I got waaaay behind with sorting photos, so despite preparing digital templates for A4 and A5 calendars last summer, the job did not get finished.
However, it does allow each photograph to shine.
I printed each page onto photo paper and bound them with the bind-it-all. As they are 6 in x 4 in I made a ‘stand’ with a sheet of card cut to size, scored and folded. This was incorporated in the binding, too.
Anyway, do you recognize this flower? It may not be what you think at first glance.
Would you believe me if I told you this is a tulip?
We’d had friends coming for lunch one day. The tulips were doing their usual bending act, so I moved the vase to the kitchen window so no one would bump them as we crowded round the dining table.
While waiting for the coffee to percolate, I was doing a quick tidy-up and, just as I unbent from a task, I happened to catch this view of the tulip with the light behind it. I raced off for my camera to capture it!

Wow! I thought. Not only were they such a regal color, they had become translucent, filtering the light – and glorying in it. Beautiful!
And worthy of a place in my scrapbook calendar.

Gosh, such a lovely and unusual photograph. It just shows the benefit of having a camera at hand. I have started putting together some calendar scrapbooking ideas for next year already and even just a camera phone will produce some great results.
