Birthday Cards: Idea 4

October 5, 2008 by Genie Balfour · Leave a Comment

WellLoved Laugh 425x72webThe final one of our birthday cards ideas is the least feminine so suitable for male family members and friends, too.

Sometimes we can get a bit concerned as we see the years pass and the numbers increase, so this card reminds us to ‘Laugh’ for ‘age is only a number’.

For me, leaving my teens was the hardest age. My husband hated turning 50, and our son-in-law has just turned 30, much to his chagrin! We’re all different.

Read on to find out how to make this card.

Using Sketch #18 for a ScrapGirls Challenge

August 15, 2008 by Genie Balfour · Leave a Comment

Moss goes Walkabout 600x72

Can you make a layout with just three products? We did when using sketch #18 for a ScrapGirls challenge.

ScrapGirls had a fun week recently when they invited everyone on a Staycation. “What’s that?” I hear you say. It was a vacation at home – save money, save fuel but still have a great time. They had lots of fun competitions and challenges with prizes.

This challenge was to send Moss the dog, the ScrapGirls Moss-cot (mascot!) on vacation. You’d be amazed the places he ‘visited’ and the things he ‘did’.

Why Digital Scrapbooking?

July 21, 2008 by Genie Balfour · Leave a Comment

Why digital scrapbooking rather than paper scrapbooking?

We’re having a conversation about digital scrapbooking today. You may have got the idea from a few posts that our layout designer, Isabella, is a new convert to digital scrapbooking – and like all new converts talks about little else these days! lol! So, with the promise of a little peace for a while, I decided to interview her so she could get it all off her chest for this post, lol!

Layout with Scrapbooking Sketch #17

July 11, 2008 by Genie Balfour · Leave a Comment

17 Layout 1708 samole2 600x600

We said we’d come back today with a sample layout made with this month’s scrapbooking sketch #17.

It’s a local beauty spot for us at ScrapbookingGems.com: peaceful and uncrowded. Just the place to go when you want to get away. And it’s in an area that’s one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets.

I met a lady one day who has lived here for many years. We were talking about how we liked the area and how pretty it is. She told me that at a family wedding in the south coast of England she was talking with a young wedding guest who asked where she lived. When she told him, he said he knew it well as it was his most favorite place to go hill-walking because he could walk for days and not meet another soul.

“But don’t tell anyone about it,” he said.

It seems that those who know it don’t want to share it. lol!

Layout with ScrapGirls’ Freebies

February 5, 2008 by Genie Balfour · 2 Comments

.

We made this layout with ScrapGirls’ freebies, thus disproving the old saying ‘You never get anything for nothing!’

We are not yet digital scrapbookers (if you are, would you answer a question for us later, please?) Yet after just a few free newsletters there were enough products to make a successful digital scrapbook layout – and we were surprised how easy it was to do with just a basic knowledge of the program we used.

Scrapbooking Favorite Toys

November 19, 2007 by Genie Balfour · Leave a Comment

My Yes-No MonkeyI hadn’t thought about scrapbooking favorite toys until I had a trip down memory lane recently.

I remembered having a monkey as a child that when you wagged it’s tail its head would move. Move the tail up and down, and the head nodded; move it from side to side and the monkey shook it’s head.

I’d never heard anyone ever talk about having one. Well, the internet being what it is, I came across what was called a Yes-No Monkey yesterday. They were made in Germany in the 1950s. You could get Yes-No Bears, too, although it would be quite hard to move their tails … maybe their mechanism was different.

How to Find the A-Z of Digital Scrapbooking

April 3, 2007 by Genie Balfour · Leave a Comment

Kens Promise - A4Ellie had seen some excellent examples of digital scrapbooking at various websites and wanted to have a go.

What she didn’t want was to have to splash out just yet to buy one of the photo software programs in case she didn’t like it, so thought she’d cheat and try it out in what she did have and was already familiar with … Microsoft Publisher.

And here is Ellie’s first attempt at a digital scrapbook layout.
