Of Genie’s Gems & Gleanings and of Proverbs …

February 20, 2007 by Genie Balfour

“… so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going … for learning what’s right and just and fair … to teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality … there’s something … for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn—Fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women.” (The Message: Proverbs)

The pace of life is not

a comfortable one for me. It’s too fast. I remember a business conference I attended a few years ago. The training was given by two quite different men: the first spoke so fast I literally could not take it in; the other’s speech was measured and, for me, worked - I learned so much more from him than from the one who raced through his talks. My brain must work at a slower pace than everyone else. Either that or there are an awful lot of other people out there playing catch-up, too.

I want to make time to think about life and what makes us tick. I want time to be thankful. I want to learn to be wise. I want to be a woman who has compassion for those around her; a woman of integrity who’s not afraid to do what’s right even when others don’t agree.

So I’ve come up with Genies’ Gems and Gleanings and I’ll record how I discover how to do some of that. I hope to find gems of wisdom that you also may appreciate.

I’ll speak about gleanings next time.

Come along and join me in the journey. Perhaps we can both make a difference.
